Light through weave
2 April 2025 · 3 min read
What a woven pendant does to a room after dark — and how to hang one properly.
A woven shade does something a solid one cannot: it draws the pattern of its own making onto the walls. After dark a rattan pendant stops being an object and becomes the texture of the room.
Over a dining table, hang the slender pendant so the base sits roughly 750–850mm above the tabletop — low enough to pool light, high enough to see the person across from you. In a stairwell or double-volume space, the bulky pendant carries the scale better.
Warm lamps read best. A soft 2700K globe keeps the cane golden; cooler light flattens it to grey.
Two or three pendants in a row want breathing space between them. Weave already carries a lot of visual information — let it.
