Cape Town living happens outside — but between the South Easter, the winter rain and the hard summer sun, natural-fibre furniture belongs under cover. Our rattan pieces are made for verandas, pergolas, courtyards, braai rooms and covered balconies rather than fully exposed decks.
Kept in shade and out of the rain, handwoven rattan holds its shape and colour for years while staying light enough to move when the wind turns.

Every piece is woven after you order, with a standard lead time of 2–4 weeks before dispatch. If you are furnishing for a specific date — a summer season opening, a guesthouse turnover, a shoot — tell us early and we will confirm what is achievable.
We do not hold pallet stock, which is why the pieces stay hand-made and why the timeline is honest rather than instant.

Material care & durability
Cane, rattan and wicker are natural plant materials, not coatings on a synthetic core. Looked after simply and kept out of rain and hard afternoon sun, a handwoven LOWE piece stays tight, warm-toned and structurally sound for decades — and can be rewoven rather than replaced.
Weave and frame remain sound; tone deepens to a warm honey over time.
Expect gentle silvering of exposed strands; frame life is unaffected.
Not recommended — fibre dries, splits and loses tension quickly.
Seats in daily use can be rewoven by the studio to as-new tension.

The curved set arrived just inside four weeks and the weave is far denser than the imported rattan we looked at. Two summers of use on a covered stoep and it still sits tight.
