Slow by design: what made-to-order really means

Two to four weeks, and what happens inside them.

Every LOWE piece begins after you order it. There is no warehouse of finished couches waiting to be discounted at the end of a season.

The first days go to material: selecting and preparing cane, shaping and setting the frame so it holds its curve. Then the weave, which is simply time — rows built by hand, tension checked as the form fills out.

Finishing and curing follow, then a final inspection and careful wrapping for transport. Across the eight pieces in the collection this lands at two to four weeks, longer only for larger sets in busy periods, and we tell you upfront when that is the case.

Making this way means less waste and no dead stock. It also means you can ask for something before it exists — a set sized for your stoep, a basket in a particular proportion. Message the studio and we will tell you honestly whether we can do it.
